HANDGUN FUNDAMENTALS LEVEL II

Categories: ,

Description

Our Handgun Fundamentals II class is a concealed carry class built on the fundamentals taught in Handgun Fundamentals I. As such, all students taking this Level II class are REQUIRED to have completed our Level I class, and be able to demonstrate competency with the fundamentals of handgun shooting, as well as safe firearm handling. We do not allow an option to “test out” of our level I class. We won’t have time to slow down this class to teach a student the fundamentals they should already have.

If you have signed up for this class without having gone through Handgun Fundamentals I, the class fee (only, surcharge is not refundable) will be refunded via credit to be put towards Handgun Fundamentals Level I, with some credit remaining for use with any of our classes.

Handgun Fundamentals II focuses on defensive skills, including drawing from holster, magazine changes, malfunction clearing, exception shooting (one hand, off hand, etc.), and point shooting at a close target. The first day of this class, Sunday from 1PM to 5 PM, will be a mix of classroom presentation and dry-fire exercise to build the fundamentals of defensive shooting in a safe and effective manner, as well as teach you how to practice your defensive skills using dry-fire at home. The second day of this class, Saturday from 9 AM to 1 PM, will be live-fire, and will still have you working one-on-one with an instructor for every shot you take.

On the first, Sunday portion of this class, students will be required to bring:
* Their firearm, UNLOADED, properly stored.
* A holster, open or concealed carry. We will not train with a concealed carry purse or shoulder holster, as there is no way to guarantee the safety of your fellow students with these options.
* At least two magazines.
* Snap caps, if you have them.
* NO LIVE AMMUNITION. Normally Hill Top Arms supports and encourages concealed carry for personal protection in all situations, but due to the nature of this session, we require that no live ammunition is in the classroom at all, including backup guns, as we strive to allow absolutely zero chance for a catastrophic discharge.

On the second, Saturday portion of this class, students will be required to bring:
* Their firearm.
* A holster, preferably the same one used on the Sunday portion of this class, unless we find that holster to be unsuitable for the student’s needs.
* At least two magazines, though three or more are preferred for convenience.
* Snap caps, if you have them.
* At least 150 rounds of ammunition. The range we will be using does allow reloaded ammunition, but we highly encourage the use of quality, factory ammunition to reduce the risk of malfunction, outside of drills using snap caps to specifically train that skill.
